The company, known as Camper, is engaged in the design, manufacture and distribution of a broad range of footwear products for men, women and children. It was founded by Lorenzo Fluxa in 1975 after inheriting a shoe factory from his father, Antonio Fluxa, a Spanish shoemaker. It operates from its head office located in Inca, Spain. The company caters for a variety of tastes and purposes, from boots to smart shoes, casual shoes and flip-flops. Its best-known products are pelotas, plastic-soled, lace-up casual shoes, generally made from brown leather. The company operates 52 company-owned stores around North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. It also supplies its products to thousands of independently-owned multi-brand retailers.
